DURHAM, N.C., November 15, 2021 – With the recent passing of the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act, many transit providers don’t have clarity on where or how to allocate these funds. Today, TransLoc, a leader in transit orchestration software and a part of Ford’s mobility portfolio*, will host a 60-minute virtual session to discuss the merits and opportunities of current landmark federal investments in public transportation. Reputable guest speakers join TransLoc Senior Business Strategist Tyler Means on Monday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. EST for the live session: The American Rescue Plan & Infrastructure Bill, & Access in Public Transit

The online event will focus on matters of equity and access in the transit industry as they pertain to American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding and the infrastructure bill. The conversation anchors in transportation leaders’ obligation to ensure the $550 billion dollar investment is distributed equitably across communities most affected by limited access to mobility, amongst other widespread issues like aging fleets and ongoing operator shortages.

“This kind of federal funding from ARP and the infrastructure bill is a once-in-a-generation event,” Means shares. “Facilitating this discussion will allow us to dig deeper into what these investments will mean for transit agencies. It will be valuable to hear ideas from our panelists about how these funds could be utilized and how industry issues should be prioritized.”

Guest speakers include David Strauss, Executive Director for the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), Art Guzzetti, Vice President of Policy for the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and Ryan Westrom, Head of Mobility Engagement for Ford Mobility and City Solutions. Strauss, Guzzetti, and Westrom’s transit expertise will guide the conversation regarding this historic funding flowing to transit providers across the country.
