202 Silver Winner: 10th Annual Best in Biz Awards

Honored for helping transit providers during COVID

DURHAM, N.C. – December 11, 2020 – TransLoc has been named a silver winner in Most Resilient Company of the Year in the Best in Biz Awards, the only independent business awards program judged each year by prominent editors and reporters from top-tier publications in North America.

TransLoc was recognized for its resilience, continued innovation, and growth despite the challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic. In order to help its customers during the onset of COVID, TransLoc’s nimbleness and adaptability through the creation of programs such as Fixed to Flex, which helped transit providers quickly pivot to more flexible modes of transit to ensure frontline workers could safely reach their destinations. TransLoc has also placed a major emphasis on advanced technology that helps maintain safe social distancing such as touch-free payment, passenger counting, and contact tracing provided critical support to transit agencies and riders alike in these unpredictable times.

“Transit agencies have faced the steepest ridership declines on record due to COVID-19,” said TransLoc VP of Product Ben Haynie. “To assist, we maximized innovations in our technology to help transit providers pivot to get frontline workers to their destinations without risking the health and safety of passengers and drivers. We have been on a mission to help the communities we serve during this time.”

2020 marked the 10th annual Best in Biz Awards and – with a continuing global pandemic – was also a year like no other in the program’s 10-year history. Despite the global challenges, the 10th annual program saw a particularly strong field of entries from public and private companies of all sizes and spanning all geographic regions and industries in the U.S. and Canada, ranging from some of the most recognizable and admired global brands like Chipotle, Clorox and The Honest Co. to the most innovative start-ups and nimble local companies – proving North American business’ resilience and continuing innovation and growth despite the odds.

“In this wild year, it’s amazing to see companies still innovating, adapting, and thriving,” said Christopher Null of WIRED. “There’s so much in the business world that is inspirational right now.”

Since the program’s inception in 2011, winners in Best in Biz Awards have been determined based on scoring from independent judging panels assembled each year from some of the most respected newspapers, TV and radio outlets, and business, consumer, technology and trade publications in North America. The 2020 judging panel included, among others, writers from Barron’s, Consumer Affairs, USA Today and Wired.
