2023 is predicted to be a busy year for in-person events. According to November 2022 research from the US Travel Association, “Nearly eight in 10 current business travelers expect to attend a conference, convention or trade show in the next six months.”
If you’re planning to get back to networking, learning, or meeting face-to-face with vendors this year, there are a wide variety of conferences to choose from. To help you decide which conferences are a must-go for you, we’ve compiled list of the transportation industry events on our radar:
Busworld 2023
Feb 4-7, 2023 | Detroit, MI
The American Bus Association serves the motorcoach, group tour, and travel industries, from legislative advocacy to education and business opportunities. This year the ABA are partnering to bring the first US-based Busworld event to Detroit. Busworld goes beyond tourism and group travel to include other transit organizations, like school transport companies and smaller operators.
The Transit Bus Summit
Feb 20-22, 2023 | Dallas, TX
Conferences and trade shows can be overwhelming. For transit agency professionals who want to cut through the noise, the Transit Bus Summit customizes the summit experience so you can speak directly to transit organizations, network over 1:1 conversations, and attend more intimate group presentations and roundtables.
SWTA Annual Transit Conference & Expo
Feb 22-25, 2023 | Aurora, CO
The South West Transit Association serves transit industry professionals across Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. This year’s SWTA Annual Transit Conference and Expo will feature multiple session tracks on topics like leadership, accessibility, safety, planning, and technology, as well as general sessions on policy initiatives and funding.
APTA Marketing & Communications Workshop
Feb 26-Mar 1, 2023 | Las Vegas, NV
Our marketing team members have found considerable value participating in APTA’s well-established marketing workshop. Topics covered include media relations, customer experience, social media, ridership initiatives, and best practices. In addition to marketing professionals, this event is open to transportation planners, researchers, developers, and customer service providers who want to improve the ways they serve riders.
PIE and Big 10 and Friends Parking and Transportation
Mar 28-30, 2023 | Schaumberg, IL
The session schedule is still TBD, but the PIE Parking Industry Expo is sure to contain sessions dedicated to transportation issues that go beyond parking. There will be a trade show exhibit, speed networking event, and a Topgolf evening.
TTA Conference, Expo, and State Roadeo
Apr 11-15, 2023 | Corpus Christi, TX
Speakers and topics Texas Transit Association’s annual event are still in process, but this two-day event will include a vendor expo, training, and a presentation from the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority on innovations to their mobility network. It all wraps up with a roadeo bus driver completion on Saturday.
2023 NCPTA Conference, Expo & Roadeo
Apr 14-19, 2023 | Concord, NC
This is the 40th anniversary of the North Carolina Public Transportation Association conference, making it a must-attend for transit professionals in and around North Carolina. Past events have focused on improving community involvement and the customer experience, as well as on fostering synergies between public and private organizations.
CalACT
Apr 17-21, 2023 | Truckee, CA
A recent CalACT event featured several presentations on new technologies like battery and fuel cell bus infrastructures. It’s likely there will continue to be a forward-thinking focus on electric and other alternative transportation technologies at this year’s conference.
Mid South Transportation and Parking Association Conference
Apr 18-21, 2023 | Savannah, GA
Last summer MSTPA merged with the Parking & Transportation Association of Georgia (PTAG), so we anticipate this normally smaller parking and transportation conference in the south (to be held in beautiful Savannah, GA) will get a little bigger, with more attendees and sessions. Educational sessions give attendees the option of earning up to seven CAPP certification points.
APTA Mobility Conference
Apr 23-26, 2023 | Minneapolis, MN
Although there’s no schedule available yet, expect this year’s APTA Mobility event to feature a wide variety of topics related to safety, maintenance, and driver issues – all highly relevant to today’s transportation providers – making this a must-attend event.
2023 National Shared Mobility Summit
May 2-4, 2023 | Chicago, IL
Our team always comes away from the National Shared Mobility Summit with valuable insights. This year’s theme is “All Together Now: Action + Accountability for People-Focused Mobility.” Catch up on the Shared Mobility 2030 Action Agenda that the organization adopted last year, and learn how the past year’s legislative changes can help move us towards more equitable transportation.
National Association of Healthcare Transport Management 2023 Conference
May 16-18, 2023 | New Orleans, LA
The National Association of Healthcare Transport Management primarily represents medical professionals who move patients within hospital settings. This said, their NAHTM Conference is also dedicated to organizations that provide hospital shuttle services. Although the schedule is still in progress, this event promises educational and vendor sessions – all right in the heart of vibrant New Orleans.
Community Transportation Association of America Expo
May 21-25, 2023 | Oklahoma City, OK
Over five days in May, the Community Transportation Association of America event will provide training and networking for community leaders and public transportation professionals. The event will include a transit technology showcase, roadeo competition and professional development and certification sessions.
Virginia Transit Association 2023 Annual Conference & Expo
May 23-24, 2023 | Virginia Beach, VA
The VTA supports transit providers and other organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. This year’s annual conference will feature sessions on highly relevant topics like the operator staffing shortage, using data in microtransit, and operations for zero-emissions vehicles.
American Association of Airport Executives 95th Annual Conference & Expo
Jun 3-5, 2023 | Denver, CO
For almost a century, AAAE has supported airport operations professionals, from ground transportation to air, with professional development, networking opportunities and other valuable services. This year’s event, held appropriately in the Mile High City, will cover topics of interest to the professionals responsible for moving customers and staff within airports.
IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo
Jun 11-14, 2023 | Fort Worth, TX
The International Parking and Mobility Institute represents professionals in the parking, mobility and transportation fields. Their annual Parking and Mobility Conference & Expo, to be held in Fort Worth, will feature exhibits, general and education sessions, Shoptalks, and opportunities for networking and community-building.
Association for Commuter Transportation International Conference
Jul 30-Aug 2, 2023 | Seattle, WA
Obtain 20 credits towards your TDM-CP certification while networking with peers and attending social events and tours in Seattle at this year’s Association for Commuter Transportation International 37th annual conference.
APTA Annual Conference & Expo
Oct 8-11, 2023 | Orlando, FL
APTA’s signature event, to be held once again in Orlando, will feature educational sessions, networking opportunities and an autonomous vehicle demonstration. Plus, view the latest in transportation innovation at the EXPO showcase that starts on October 9th.
NACAS C3X 2023
Nov 5-8, 2023 | Toronto, Canada
Transportation is a critical requirement for college students, and studies have found that Generation Z favors shared transportation options (like mass transit and microtransit) over cars. Expect transit to be an important topic covered at the National Association of College Auxiliary Services event, to be held in Toronto this year.
