Honored for Improving the Quality of Life for Commuters
SEATTLE, Wash., November 12, 2019 – Today the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) honored TransLoc’s Director of Mobility Strategy Alex Gibson with the 2019 “40 Under 40 Award.” ACT toasted the accomplishments of transportation demand management (TDM) professionals and industry leaders at a ceremony during its annual TDM Forum in Seattle. Winners were selected for their commitment to solving the transportation and mobility challenges facing their communities and organizations.
“The future is very bright for TDM with this impressive group of talent rising up and changing the way we look at addressing transportation and mobility. The work of these ambitious leaders makes a very real difference in the quality of life commuters and their creative solutions are improving the sustainability of their communities,” said ACT Executive Director David Straus.
Gibson’s commitment to bringing innovation into the transit space has led to the creation of software and services to aid transit agencies in filling transit gaps, organizing data, and providing desirable service solutions to riders. His contributions were instrumental in the development and launch of on-demand microtransit at TransLoc, adopted at more than 65 transit agencies across the nation.
“I am humbled to receive this honor, especially at a time when mobility is more important than it’s ever been,” said Gibson. “With this importance comes responsibility, and that’s the real value of this recognition: admitting that each of the recipients has immense power to author the change we desperately need to see in the world.”
The winners represent a diverse cross-section of the industry, including private sector employers, city and state governments, service providers, consultants, and nonprofits.
