TransLoc, GATRA

Durham, N.C., August 20, 2019 – Transloc, the leader in mission-critical transit technology solutions, today announces a partnership with the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) in southwestern Massachusetts to provide on-demand microtransit shuttle service to operate in three services areas.

“We are excited about our microtransit pilot program,” commented Joanne LaFerrara, GATRA’s Director of Customer Relations. “GATRA realizes the importance of providing greater accessibility and mobility options in our service area. Partnering with TransLoc will give our riders another option to access much needed public transit service.”

GATRA Administrator Frank Gay added, “We look forward to supplementing our fixed route transportation and allowing our riders a flexible, cost effective transit option that will cater to their needs.”

Microtransit is an on-demand service which allows transit riders to request a vehicle to pick them up and drop them off where needed. The service will run complementary to fixed-route bus services currently provided in the Route 1, 140, and 106 corridors, which includes portions of the towns of Mansfield, Plainville, and Foxborough.

“One of our goals at TransLoc is to empower transit agencies to better serve their communities,” said Ron Cygnarowicz, Vice President of Customers at TransLoc. “I am confident this partnership will result in more convenient and accessible transit service for GATRA riders, connecting them to important employment, medical, and recreational facilities.”

Transit riders in the area can request service anywhere within the boundaries of the Route 1, 140, and 106 corridors. To request a pick up or drop off, riders can use the TransLoc mobile app on their smartphones or dial 508-697-1911, where they will be assisted by a dispatcher.

The service, which begins today, will run Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and will be free through the month of September.
