Durham, N.C., August 5, 2019 – TransLoc, provider of microtransit technology and mobility solutions, announces the launch of an on-demand pilot program in partnership with Rock Region Metro in Arkansas. The pilot will provide on-demand services and real-time vehicle tracking updates to residents in the Little Rock metro area.
“We are excited to embark on this journey with Rock Region Metro,” said Ron Cygnarowicz, Vice President of Customers for TransLoc. “I am confident that our OnDemand product will help enable significant improvements in mobility to transit riders in the Little Rock area, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for those who rely on public transportation to move around.”
Unlike traditional fixed-route bus schedules, the on-demand service will allow Rock Region riders to request a vehicle where and when they need them. This seamless mobility gives transit riders a greater sense of freedom, filling first-mile/last-mile service gaps, increasing coverage, reducing travel times, and providing an optimal customer experience.
Riders are able to request and schedule a pick-up and drop off through the TransLoc mobile app. The app also allows transit riders to receive a notification when their vehicle is approaching. For passengers without a smartphone, rides can be scheduled by calling a dispatcher or ordering a ride online and real-time updates are sent via SMS text.
The on-demand pilot launches today in all Rock Region Metro service areas, and will continue for six months.
