TransLoc and Ride ACTA

New on-demand microtransit service will enhance current ACTA offerings while providing a more convenient, time-friendly option.

DURHAM, N.C., February 27, 2019 — TransLoc, a Ford Smart Mobility company*, announces the launch of an agency-owned microtransit pilot with the Airport Corridor Transportation Association (ACTA) in Pittsburgh, PA. This service will connect commuters to thousands of jobs in the Airport Corridor.

“The Airport Corridor Transportation Association is excited to announce the launch of its microtransit pilot project with TransLoc,” said ACTA’s Executive Director Lynn Manion. “We expect the new apps to create a more pleasant last-mile experience for our riders and a more efficient last-mile delivery system for our RideACTA shuttle.”

The pilot program is designed to bridge the gap between fixed route transit and workplaces for RideACTA passengers. Currently, fixed route bus service ends miles away from many major employers in the Airport Corridor, creating a gap that makes it challenging for employees to get to available jobs. The new microtransit service will enable transit-dependent riders to access job opportunities not available elsewhere, and local employers are optimistic that the new transit option will result in improved talent acquisition.

With TransLoc’s ride-sharing smartphone app, riders will be able to schedule on-demand curb-to-curb trips. A dedicated microtransit vehicle will arrive at the bus transfer point and drop them off at work sites within the service boundaries. The smart technology will group riders together to enhance efficiency and deliver employees to their places of work.

“TransLoc is excited to partner with RideACTA for the launch of the microtransit pilot in the Airport Corridor. We anticipate our technologies will decrease commute times for riders in the area who are spending up to four hour each day on public transit. This should have a positive impact on the community at large in helping employers recruit more local talent,” said Elaine McVey, Business Owner of TransLoc’s Municipal Mobility division. “The new microtransit services will work in tandem with fixed route services and help to create a more inclusive transit ecosystem.”
