Highlighting Public and Private Partnerships in Rural and Suburban Communities

DURHAM, N.C., August 2,  2021, – TransLoc, a leader in transit orchestration software and  a part of the Ford mobility portfolio*, will present a session at today’s ACT International Conference at Walt Disney World. Tyler Means, TransLoc’s Senior Business Strategist, will be joined by Southwest Transit Association’s (SWTA) Executive Director, Rich Sampson, to speak about advancing rural and suburban communities through funding partnerships and technology.

The TransLoc session “Advancing Rural and Suburban Communities with Funding Partnerships and Technology” takes place today,  August 3rd from 3:15pm to 4:15pm. Means shares, “ACT understands the importance of ensuring that all people are able to connect to their community. That is why I am excited to have the opportunity to present on how to create successful and sustainable transportation solutions for rural and suburban communities alongside the Executive Director of SWTA, Rich Sampson.”

The session will dive deeper into funding and service models for rural and suburban transportation in comparison to urban mass-transit. Means and Sampson will describe how more innovative funding strategies align better with community land use and rider expectations including partnerships with state and local governments as well as multi-jurisdictional partnerships. We’ll learn that data-driven service is made possible in part by advancements in transit technology, helping us to increase accessibility and reduce costs overall. Altogether, the presentation aims to demonstrate how innovative funding and new technology will improve the future of rural and suburban transportation.

The annual conference gathers hundreds of transportation demand management (TDM) leaders from around the world for professional development and networking opportunities. Attendees represent a wide variety of transit service providers and stakeholders that work to improve transportation options for commuters and overall sustainability of their communities.
