DURHAM, N.C.–()–TransLoc, a transportation technology platform that delivers seamless mobility for all, today announced its continued expansion across North America to help public transit agencies create thriving transportation networks. This recent expansion marks a 15 percent increase in the past six months in the number of municipal customers served by TransLoc. More than 12 million additional annual riders now have access to TransLoc’s intuitive Rider, Traveler and RealTime software platforms, which are designed to help agencies create a virtuous cycle of better service, improved ridership and deeper relationships with customers.

As part of the expansion, MetroLINK (IL), Greensboro Transit Authority (NC), Clemson Area Transit (SC) and Burlington Transit (Ont.) will each deploy different combinations of TransLoc’s RealTime, Rider and Traveler platforms. These platforms are powerful management tools, giving agencies a bird’s eye view of day-to-day operations and vehicle routes; real-time information on rider preferences and routes; and streamlined rider communication. All three solutions are designed to make it easy for transit agencies to achieve a higher level of service.

“Clemson Area Transit is constantly dealing with the dual challenges of meeting high rider expectations and keeping cost down,” said Clemson Area Transit CEO Al Babinicz. “TransLoc met our needs with software that not only helps us understand what our riders are doing, but that is also amazingly user friendly. CAT has experienced a 3 percent increase in ridership during the past six months, and we are able to better serve our riders with safe, friendly and reliable public transportation. This is another step forward by CAT to introduce state-of-the-art transportation technologies, demonstrating a successful model for the public transportation industry.”

According to a study by THINK, four in five Americans currently using public transit could be motivated to use it more through simple improvements. The top three include more reliable service, real-time schedule displays and cleaner equipment and stations. Software like TransLoc shows riders real-time vehicle locations and gives agencies data-driven insights into the issues riders care about so they can better manage resources to optimize service. This built-in feedback loop increases trust with riders without building in extra costs.

“Communities are facing major challenges to help their citizens get around increasingly complex, fragmented communities,” said TransLoc CEO Doug Kaufman. “TransLoc has worked with more than 150 public transit agencies for more than a decade to understand what it takes to build a seamless transportation network. Our growth reflects providers’ desire to support better service through better data while getting riders where they need to go, reliably and quickly. We’ve connected transit systems throughout entire regions and plan to eventually expand that network to all of North America.”

This announcement comes on the heels of an $8 million funding round secured earlier this year and the company’s recent expansion in Durham, North Carolina. As the company continues to expand its reach and partner with more transit providers, it will build on its momentum with aggressive hiring, growing to 80 employees at the end of 2016 and more than 100 by the end of 2017.
