TransLoc recognized alongside NASA, Uber and Waymo
DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 9, 2019– TransLoc was honored today in Fast Company’s 2019 “Innovation by Design Awards” for its innovation in mobility. The TransLoc App was recognized for its ability to ease public transit challenges and provide riders with smart and equitable transit options.
“For decades, designers have facilitated overconsumption,” says Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “Now, the most ambitious in the field are addressing the grave problems consumption has wrought.” Fast Company editors and writers spend a year researching and reviewing applicants for the awards. This year’s applicant pool was the most competitive ever, with more than 4,300 entries.
Fast Company’s “Innovation By Design Awards” is the only competition to honor creative work that uses design to solve real-world problems. The TransLoc App uses predictive capabilities and a streamlined display to make public transit an accessible service for riders at all levels. The app capabilities have especially given residents living in historically transit-light areas a lifeline, empowering them with the ability to get where they want to go, with a safe, affordable, and high-quality experience.
