Flexible on-demand transit debuts in Savage, MN.
DURHAM, N.C., June 3, 2019 – TransLoc, a Ford Smart Mobility company*, announces the launch of MVTA Connect, an on-demand public transit rideshare service with Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) serving the Savage, MN area.
“MVTA is very excited to have TransLoc power our MVTA Connect pilot,” said MVTA Transit Planner Matthew Rosenbloom-Jones. “This will allow MVTA to provide an app-based, TNC-style of service using the vehicles and operators our riders know and depend on.”
MVTA Connect gives riders the opportunity to book trips anywhere in Savage, in addition to service to Burnsville Transit Station and Burnsville Mall by using the Microtransit app. Booking through the app provides riders with real-time ride updates as well as a predicted pick-up and arrival times for a low fare of $4.
“We’re excited to be working with MVTA to introduce an agency-owned microtransit system that will offer both value and options to people working and living in the Savage area,” said TransLoc Vice President of Customers Ron Cygnarowicz. “It’s our mission to make public transit the first choice travel mode for all, and it’s through these agile pilot programs that we are able to offer dynamic transit solutions to meet the mobility needs of riders in any community.”
MVTA Connect is available weekdays between 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Passengers can book a ride and handle payment on the Microtransit app or by visiting ondemand.transloc.com. The service also welcomes walk-on riders able to pay the $4 fare with exact cash. The pilot program offers all-day free transfers to MVTA fixed routes and will run through early December.
