Free rides to vaccine centers for St. Clair County, Illinois residents.
DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 26, 2021 – TransLoc, a division of Ford Motor Company* and leader in mission-critical technology and transportation software solutions, announced it is providing free demand-response technology to aid in the delivery of COVID vaccine treatments in the East St. Louis, Illinois area.
TransLoc partnered with St. Clair County Transit District to launch a free COVID vaccine shuttle earlier this month using TransLoc’s OnDemand service. Residents in St. Clair County are able to receive a ride from anywhere in the county to one of two designated COVID-19 vaccine centers at no cost. After residents have received their COVID-19 shot, SCCTD contractors use TransLoc’s OnDemand concierge function to book the patient a ride home from the vaccine center, also at no cost.
“Our partnership with TransLoc started back in the Fall of 2019 when St. Clair County District launched a six-month pilot program to provide an app-based, curb-to-transit, microtransit service in East St. Louis known as the SCCTD Flyer,” said Ken Sharkey, managing director of St. Clair County Transit District. “Our relationship has continued to expand and we are excited to team with the company on this effort. Our goal in providing free transportation is simple. We want to help increase public access to these vaccinations by providing a safe, efficient, convenient and free-of-charge ride to those in our community. This includes MetroBus, MetroLink and SCCTD Express Shuttle Bus Service, as well as flexible, on-demand, shared-ride ATS service, which is supported by TransLoc.”
