TransLoc + RideSystems + Doublemap

On March 1, 2022, global technology company Modaxo acquired TransLoc from Ford Motor Company. TransLoc is no longer affiliated with Ford or any Ford properties.

DURHAM, NC., July 30, 2019 — TransLoc, a Ford Smart Mobility company, will begin to integrate its agency-owned microtransit product offerings with Journey Holding Corporation following Ford Smart Mobility’s acquisition of the company. Announced by Ford Smart Mobility, its acquisition will bring together TransLoc, Ride Systems LLC, and DoubleMap to create the industry’s most comprehensive data-driven and accessible transportation solutions for cities, universities, and other businesses with transit operations.

Journey Holding CEO Justin Rees will lead the new operation, which now serves more than 1,200 cities and other enterprises with software solutions for fixed route transportation, microtransit on-demand transportation and other related areas. TransLoc CEO Doug Kaufman, who presented the acquisition opportunity to FSM, will leave the transportation company on August 16.

“TransLoc’s goal has always been to assist transit agencies and universities in delivering smart and cost-effective transportation solutions to its citizens and students. Agency-owned microtransit has helped fuel economic growth across the country, provided people with access to jobs, healthcare and housing, and has reduced traffic congestion and harmful pollutants. I’m proud of the work we have done at TransLoc and am excited to see the company continue to grow,” said Kaufman.

By integrating with Journey Holding Corp, TransLoc can now better serve public and private agencies seeking to amend gaps in transit offerings based on real-time rider needs and shifting demands. As a data-driven company, TransLoc provides public and private agencies with predictive modeling to simulate rider demand, pilot programs to test rider experience, optimized fixed-route solutions based on real-time data, a smartphone app for riders, and many other solutions. Both Ride Systems and DoubleMap provide automatic vehicle location services to municipalities, universities, airports, hospitals, and corporate fleets.

In addition to product integration, the new operation will bring together over 200 employees across the country with extensive experience in delivering technology and transit offerings to transportation systems and rider experiences. Other members of the new company’s leadership team appointed today include:

  • Scott Lacy, vice president of Product
  • Ron Cygnarowicz, vice president of Customers
  • Ilya Rekhter, vice president of Growth
  • Kevin Fowler, vice president of Finance
  • Katie Strickland, vice president of People
  • Peter SerVaas, vice president of Innovation
  • Kelly Rees, vice president of Integration
