Introducing Destination Vaccination

The program will enable transit agencies to provide transportation to vaccine centers at no additional cost.

DURHAM, N.C., March 9, 2021 – TransLoc, developer of mission critical transportation software solutions, announced today its Destination Vaccination campaign, providing free on-demand services to transit agencies to assist in the safe transport of community members to and from vaccination locations.

As the COVID vaccine becomes more readily available, TransLoc is committed to ensuring no one is left behind. The backbone to the success of the COVID vaccine rollout is transportation, yet many residents, including older adults and other transit dependent persons, are often left without access to mobility to get to vaccination sites. As part of TransLoc’s commitment to equitable and accessible mobility, it has launched Destination Vaccination to help close the transportation gap that so often affects the most vulnerable members of our communities. Destination Vaccination will provide on-demand software licenses to transit agencies at no cost, ensuring that those who need and want the vaccine are not inhibited by a lack of transportation.

“When we heard that a lack of reliable transportation was preventing people from getting to and from vaccination centers, we knew that TransLoc could help,” said VP of Product Ben Haynie. “COVID has taken a toll on all of us, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We are grateful TransLoc’s technology can help ensure people have the access they need to secure vaccinations.”

The success of the service has already been tested in East St. Louis, Illinois, with TransLoc partner, St. Clair County Transit District who began using TransLoc’s OnDemand software to transport residents to and from vaccine centers in mid-February.

“Our partnership with TransLoc started back in the Fall of 2019 when St. Clair County District launched a six-month pilot program to provide an app-based, curb-to-transit, microtransit service in East St. Louis known as the SCCTD Flyer,” said Ken Sharkey, managing director of St. Clair County Transit District. “Our relationship has continued to expand and we are excited to team with the company on this effort. Our goal in providing free transportation is simple. We want to help increase public access to these vaccinations by providing a safe, efficient, convenient and free-of-charge ride to those in our community.”

TransLoc will offer its Destination Vaccination program through the end of the year. New clients may be subject to startup costs. Additional information can be found at transloc.com/destination-vaccination.
