DURHAM, N.C., November 2, 2021 – TransLoc, a leader in transit orchestration software and a part of Ford’s mobility portfolio*, partners with Rice University’s transportation department to create the ultimate rider experience with OnDemand. The microtransit solution is a flexible demand-response system designed to simplify the transit experience with on-demand dispatching and real-time rider communications and tracking.
Rice University in Houston, Texas, has worked with TransLoc since March to provide convenient transportation options for its 10,000 students and faculty members. In need of a feature-robust system on campus, the university implemented TransLoc’s OnDemand for a more comprehensive and easy-to-use rider experience. OnDemand enhances Rice’s Night Escort program by helping admins track their fleet more accurately, ultimately creating a safer campus environment.
TransLoc’s Manager of Solutions Engineering, Austin Stanion, shares, “TransLoc is honored to partner with Rice University and help solve any mobility challenges that come their way. OnDemand is a great fit for their Night Escort program, offering accurate tracking in real-time.”
“OnDemand has helped us enhance the transit experience from start to finish, both from the rider standpoint and for us as providers,” adds Rice University’s Transportation Manager, Elizabeth Gbordzoe. “We’ve been really happy with the system changes so far and look forward to how this migration will benefit transportation on campus in the coming months.”
